Tim Pendrell: Local Roots, Global Reach
Championing economic revitalization, job creation, workforce development, inclusive growth, and fiscal responsibility.
A Proud South Omaha Boy Committed to Legislative District 7
Tim Pendrell, a proud South Omaha Boy (S.O.B.), has a steadfast commitment and a positive vision for Legislative District 7. His journey began like that of many local kids, with his first job at the Henry Doorly Zoo in 8th grade. Like his mother, who worked as a waitress at Leisure Lanes Cafe, Tim’s path from the neighborhood streets to global experiences and back again shows his deep-rooted connection to the community.
In high school, he participated in the graffiti wipeout project at Gross Catholic, working alongside neighbors to restore the beauty of South Omaha. Tim’s global experiences in places like Beijing and Nepal have given him a unique perspective on how to apply creative solutions to local issues like housing, education, and economic development. His vision for Legislative District 7 combines deep local roots with global reach to tackle our biggest challenges.
From Habitat for Humanity to the State Legislature
During the 2008 housing crisis, Tim Pendrell worked with AmeriCorps and Habitat for Humanity of Omaha to focus on capacity building and developing sustainable neighborhoods, strengthening his lifelong commitment to community revitalization. With five years of legislative experience and a Master’s in Urban Planning focused on Economic Development and Housing Policy, Tim has the expertise to address Omaha’s most pressing challenges. His deep knowledge of housing and economic development ensures he’s ready to hit the ground running and deliver real solutions for our district from day one.
A Vision for Sustainable Growth and Strong Communities
Supporting Small Businesses: Tim Pendrell is committed to targeted support for local businesses through tax incentives, grants, and streamlined access to resources, ensuring small businesses remain the backbone of South Omaha’s economy. One of his key initiatives is the development of culinary incubators and co-packing facilities, which will empower start-up food businesses to bring their products to market. These incubators provide shared kitchens and processing spaces where entrepreneurs can develop their recipes and produce food legally for sale in stores. Co-packing services help small food businesses scale up, allowing them to create shelf-stable products for grocery shelves, which can be a game changer for local food entrepreneurs.
Leveraging the Food-Based Economy: South Omaha has long been home to a vibrant food culture, from family-owned restaurants to large food processing industries. Tim sees tremendous potential in this sector to create jobs and improve community well-being. By supporting the launch of a food innovation hub, expanding farm-to-table initiatives, and strengthening food processing and distribution, Tim will help grow small food businesses while preserving South Omaha’s rich culinary heritage.
Technologies of the Future: In addition to supporting small businesses, Tim played a key role in securing $300 million for Project NeXT at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), which will create over 18,000 high-paying jobs in Omaha. This project positions Omaha as a leader in medical research and innovation, driving both economic growth and cutting-edge technology in the region. Tim also helped draft Nebraska's effort to attract semiconductor manufacturing and secured $20 million for Metropolitan Community College to train locals for high-demand jobs of the future.
South Omaha’s Voice: Beyond the Blueprint
Affordable Housing, Immigration, and Public Health
Tim Pendrell’s campaign goes beyond basic promises, focusing on real solutions for South Omaha. He is committed to expanding affordable housing options and building stronger tenant supports to ensure that everyone has a safe and stable place to live. Tim will advocate for immigrant rights, ensuring that South Omaha’s diverse residents have access to essential services. He’s pushing for legislation to change Nebraska’s status as the only state that denies DACA and TPS workers the unemployment benefits they pay into, leveling the playing field for all workers who contribute to Nebraska's economy. Additionally, Tim is determined to improve public health by advocating for Medicaid expansion and increased funding for mental health services. His vision is one of inclusivity, fairness, and better access to healthcare for all.
The Only True South Omaha Neighbor Running for Legislature
Tim Pendrell: A South Omaha Boy Committed to Our Future
It’s been 20 years since South Omaha elected one of our own to the legislature, and during that time, both South Omaha and downtown have been overlooked. I’m not just running to represent us in Lincoln—I’m taking our entire community with me. My journey began right here, from my first job at the zoo to working alongside neighbors cleaning up graffiti in high school. My commitment to this community has never wavered. I understand our struggles because they’re my own, and with five years of experience working in the legislature, I’m ready to fight for us from day one.
As your next state senator, I’ll focus on economic revitalization, workforce development, and public safety to make South Omaha and downtown Omaha even better places to live, work, and raise a family. It’s time we had a true voice in Lincoln—together, we’ll build the future our district deserves.
